Please send an email to the La Plata County Planning Department ASAP and let them know you want to continue to soak after 9:00 p.m., and you oppose noise restrictions limiting children from playing and music on the lawn.
Please email your comments to .Planning@co.laplata.co.us
Time is critical, so please don’t delay!
THE EARLIER CLOSING TIME WILL BE PERMANENT if approved by the Planning Commission next week.
This has nothing to do with COVID-19 restrictions.
The La Plata County Planning Department is attempting to require the hot springs to close by 9:00 p.m. daily. As you know, the pools have always been open past 9:00 p.m. without issue, and we would like to continue to keep the pools open past 9:00 p.m. Additionally, the Planning Department is attempting to require that the sound from the hot springs never gets louder than a “normal conversation” (60 dBA). This restriction would pretty much eliminate any music on the lawn, or even a group of kids playing. In the 23 years of County recordkeeping, there has never been a single complaint regarding hours of operation or noise from the the hot springs.
